Terms of Use

Clefway provides free browser-based music practice and notation tools (metronome, instrument tuners, and sheet music transposer / guitar TAB converter). By using Clefway, you agree to these Terms of Use.

1. Nature of the Service

Clefway is a software tool that supports transposing user-selected sheet music and converting it into guitar tablature (TAB) notation. Using the service does not grant any license or permission for the input sheet music or the underlying musical work. Securing any required rights for the music is the user's responsibility, and Clefway provides software only.

2. User's Obligation of Lawful Use

You must use the service only where you hold the rights required to input, reproduce, and convert the sheet music and to use the resulting output, have obtained permission from the rightsholder, or where such use is permitted under applicable law.

Purchasing or possessing a copy of sheet music does not by itself authorize all forms of reproduction, arrangement, distribution, or public disclosure.

3. Use of Converted Outputs

Transposition, re-engraving, or TAB conversion does not extinguish or remove copyrights existing in the underlying musical work or sheet music edition.

Before distributing, selling, posting, transmitting, publicly performing, or broadcasting any output, you must separately verify and secure the necessary rights or legal basis for that use.

4. How Sheet Music Is Processed

Input sheet music and converted outputs are processed locally inside your browser. Clefway does not receive or store those scores or outputs on its servers, and does not collect or use them to train AI models.

The service does not provide any feature for sharing or posting sheet music between users. You are solely responsible for managing any output files you download or print.

5. Prohibited Conduct and Rights Notices

You must not use the service to infringe the copyright or other rights of any third party.

You must comply with and preserve any author attribution, source citation, copyright notice, and license notice required by applicable law or license terms.

Unauthorized extraction, decryption, reverse-engineering, redistribution, hotlinking, or iframe embedding of Clefway's proprietary first-party OMR model (clefway-omr.onnx) and proprietary application code is strictly prohibited (without prejudice to your rights under open-source licenses such as GNU LGPL v3 for Verovio, as set forth in Section 8).

6. Accuracy of Results

Optical music recognition, transposition, engraving, and fingering/TAB notation may contain errors. You should review and verify the output before using it.

7. Copyright Infringement Reports

A rightsholder may submit a report through the contact channel listed on this site (hello@clefway.com) specifying the work at issue, the rights claimed, the specific feature, material, or URL involved, the relevant facts, and contact information.

Clefway will review the report and take appropriate action. Because Clefway does not receive or store user sheet music on its servers, we cannot view or delete files we do not possess or identify individual users from local files.

8. Third-Party Licenses and Mandatory Statutory Rights

Third-party software included in the service is governed by its respective license terms. These Terms do not restrict any rights granted to users under those licenses (including rights under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3 for Verovio). These Terms do not exclude or limit any liability of the operator or statutory rights of the user that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

9. Changes and Contact
